If the best music is mined from the underground, then US artist Citizen Cope is the richest of seams. Unique and undefinable, Cope and his US band played the Albert to a privileged, sweat laden few - including UK chart artist James Morrison - as part of the Great Escape festival. Earlier overruns and technical problems curtailed his involvement to around 40 minutes but gems from his impressive catalogue included 'Sideways' and 'Son's Gonna Rise'. It's heartwarming that a sometimes increasingly tired and plagiarist music industry can still throw up such an inspiring, ground breaking artist as this.
