Justice Ale - Sideways Farm & Brewery

#37 Justice Ale: Sideways Farm & Brewery’s 37th beer was inspired by “Justice,” the first track on Citizen Cope’s recently released album, “Heroin and Helicopters.”   It’s a hazy ale because, simply put, Justice is sometimes hazy. Instead of brewing a standard hazy style, we decided to let the song and band inspire the recipe – just as Citizen Cope’s music is difficult to categorize, so is this ale.  Looking past the haze, the song clearly states, “it ain’t about justice.” It’s a refreshingly upbeat song, just as this ale is primarily a refreshingly tart beverage.  #37 features Carolina Malt House’s Pilsner, a single variety, single origin Violetta 2-Row barley grown within 10 miles of their facility. This gives the beer a clean profile, which we then clouded with their unmalted wheat to increase the mouthfeel.   Calypso hops create tropical fruit and apple-pear aromas.  Initially clean fermented with a German ale yeast, we then added lemongrass grown on our farm, Wisconsin River Cranberries, and a big juicy yeast for the secondary fermentation. Justice Ale underwent a third fermentation in the bottle using local wild flower honey to further increase complexity.  Bottled in 750mL bottles, the perfect size when, “looking for somebody to share it with.”  Limited release - only 420 bottles available. This hazy beer has a wonderful wheat aroma blended with juicy refreshing citrus, tropical fruits and tart cranberries notes. One dollar from every bottle sold will be going to Citizen Cope's charity: The Mimi Wood Foundation for Arts and Business. 5.3% ABV.
